Gas Safety Control Panels

The control panel is the brain of the system: it reads the sensing devices, runs the proving sequence, drives the solenoid valve and tells an operator why gas has been isolated.

  • Combined interlock and proving panels are the UK norm
  • Clear indicator lamps reduce needless call-outs
  • Panels can usually be upgraded without repiping

Interlock Controller → Fan Sensors → Proving Panel → Solenoid Valve. Losing any proof of ventilation de-energises the valve and isolates the gas supply.

What the panel does

  • Monitors extract and input air proving devices
  • Runs the gas pressure proving test where fitted
  • Energises and latches the gas solenoid valve
  • Accepts gas detection, CO and CO₂ alarm inputs
  • Provides volt-free outputs to a BMS and to ventilation controls

Upgrade and replacement

Obsolete panels with no spares, or panels without proving where a risk assessment now requires it, are replaced with a modern combined unit reusing the existing valve and sensing devices where they test good. The system is then fully recommissioned and recertified.

Frequently asked questions

Can I reset a gas alarm on the panel myself?

Never reset a gas, CO or CO₂ alarm. Evacuate, isolate at the emergency control valve and call a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Why does the panel keep blowing a fuse?

Usually a shorted solenoid coil or damaged cable in a hot canopy void. It needs electrical diagnosis, not a larger fuse.
