A reset on its own is never the answer — something made the system shut the gas off. We attend, prove why it locked out, put the fault right, then reset, test and certify the interlock so the kitchen can trade safely.

What the visit covers
- Read the lockout state and fault history at the panel
- Test emergency stop circuit, ventilation proving device and solenoid valve coil
- Measure extract and make-up airflow against the pressure switch setting
- Repair or replace the failed component from van stock where possible
- Reset, prove and functionally test the whole interlock
- Tightness test where the gas carcass has been disturbed
- Issue certification and label the system
Why systems keep needing resets
- Air pressure switch drifting out of adjustment as filters load up
- Extract fan belts, bearings or inverter faults developing slowly
- Emergency stops knocked in during cleaning and not reported
- Solenoid coils cooking in hot plant rooms and failing intermittently
- No annual interlock service, so small faults go undiagnosed until the gas drops out mid-service
If you can smell gas
- Turn off the gas at the emergency control valve and press the emergency stop button
- Do not switch anything electrical on or off, and do not use naked flames
- Open doors and windows, evacuate and keep people clear
- Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999
- Only then call us to make the installation safe and return it to service
Frequently asked questions
Can you just reset it over the phone?
We will talk you through the safe checks — releasing emergency stops, confirming the fan is running, closing appliance taps — but a latched safety fault needs an engineer on site.
Do you cover all makes?
Yes — Merlin and S&S Northern CT1250/CT1650/CT1750, Medem, Flamefast, Intelligas, Duomo, Banico and generic panels.
Can you stop it happening again?
Yes. Most repeat lockouts come down to airflow proving set on the edge of its range or missed servicing. We reset the proving device properly and can put the system on an annual test contract.
Is a reset visit certified?
Yes, a full interlock function test and certificate is issued, which is what an inspector or insurer will ask to see.
