Gas Interlock Servicing & Annual Testing
An interlock is a safety system, so it has to be proved rather than assumed. Our annual test demonstrates that gas actually shuts off when ventilation fails — and gives you the record an inspector will ask for.
- Documented fan fail, emergency stop and valve closure testing
- Air pressure switch and airflow sensor checked and reset to specification
- Planned maintenance contracts across UK commercial sites
What the annual test covers
- Visual inspection of panel, valve, sensors and cabling for damage, grease ingress and corrosion
- Fan fail simulation — gas must shut off within seconds of ventilation loss
- Emergency stop operation and reset procedure verified
- Air pressure switch setting checked against extract performance, adjusted and locked
- Solenoid valve closure and tightness test; coil current and temperature check
- Gas detection and CO/CO₂ inputs function tested where fitted
- Labelling, reset instructions and staff walkthrough
- Certificate and test record issued
Why interlocks drift out of specification
Extract filters block, fan belts slip, ductwork fills with grease and make-up air grilles get covered. The pressure the switch sees changes, and the interlock either nuisance trips or — worse — proves ventilation that is no longer adequate. Regular cleaning of the canopy and filters directly affects interlock reliability.
Frequently asked questions
Can the interlock test be done with my gas safety inspection?
Yes, and it is the efficient option — one visit, one set of paperwork.
How long does the test take?
Typically 45–90 minutes for a single-zone kitchen system, longer for multi-zone sites or where faults are found.
What if it fails?
We report the defect, isolate gas if it is unsafe, and quote the repair. Common failures — pressure switch, solenoid coil, e-stop — are usually fixed from van stock the same day.
